Out and About Lanzarote

Great sandy beaches

The Island of Lanzarote has some beautiful beaches and most of the best beaches are in the area of Playa Blanca. The cove beaches of Papagayo just along the coast from the small seaside town of Playa Blanca are some of the best bathing beaches in the whole of the Canary Islands. These beaches where once the home of a few hippies back in the 70's who set up home in the caves above the beach for most of the winter months. However the Hippies have gone and now holiday mackers from all over Europe have taken there place. Still today a few people decide to go with the hipie way of life and spend there days sunbathing naked on these beautiful beaches. The beach in Playa Blanca itself is a cresent of soft powder sand with good safe bathing. Many of the other beaches on the Island are man made and offer all tourist facilities. Arrieta lies on the north west coast of Lanzarote. Here is a small selection of beaches with a rocky and wild sea, this area is popular with wind surfers and water sports enthusiasts. Great place to enjoy a delicious Pallela in one of the local seafront restaurants.
